“Hakaw Utux” (meaning spirit bridge) tests the hunting skill of man and the weaving skill of woman before a person can enter the sacred tattoo ceremony. The Sejiq Truku people need to be tattooed on the face to show that they have become adults. In order to reach the spiritual residences of their ancestors, they must pass the trial of life. “Hakaw Utux” is the connecting passage to the invisible world. It emphasizes on the process of life and the extension of the tribe.
